Our aim is to secure the restoration of Uckfield line train services to
Lewes and Tunbridge Wells, creating a new Wealden Line which would:
1) Provide new travel opportunities across East Sussex and Kent
2) Stimulate the local economy
3) Benefit the environment by relieving road congestion

"Uckfield deserves to have the best when it comes to infrastructure, no better example of this is the case for improved rail transport. We have been systematically let down regarding developments to reinstate the link to Lewes and it is now time for steps to be taken to do something positive. Those who might try will never stop us, we will continue to fight for this vital initiative until we have safely secured the reinstatement of our railway."

22 June 2009: MISSING LINK Online PDF Print E-mail

As a member of the Wealden Line Campaign, members will occasionally receive a printed newsletter called MISSING LINK which provides in-depth background information of our efforts to get the railway line rebuilt between Lewes and Uckfield and also between Eridge and Tunbridge Wells.

This latest edition of the newsletter is, however, deserving of a much wider audience as besides highlighting the increasing capacity crisis facing South East Routes, it also exposes the reasons why the 2008 Lewes-Uckfield Railway Line Study was doomed to failure even before it was started.

We have therefore decided to provide everyone the opportunity to download and print off their own copy from the Downloads Section of our other website at www.wealdenlink.org.uk. It is essential reading for not only residents along the current Hurst Green - Uckfield line, but also of the many railway passengers who are forced to endure cramped and often delayed journeys along the Brighton Main Line to places such as Lewes, Eastbourne or Seaford from Central London.

Also, if you want to see for yourself, how easy it would be to rebuild the Lewes - Uckfield Missing Link, why not come along to our Annual Walk on July 18th 2009  which starts from Lewes Station at 10.30am, and what's more, you don't have to be a member to participate.
